Pop-up projects can range from temporary to permanent infrastructure. The efficacy of a pop-up project requires concrete metrics that must be established. Some metrics are consistent from project to project, and can be used universally, while other metrics are very contextual. This article explores how when examining the pattern of contextual metrics, a broader scope of design intent can be appreciated. Additionally, it is important to understand if a pop-up traffic calming project is funded by the municipality or through grant funding, and how the project life cycle is likely to differ depending on funding source.
